Ski touring combines the physical challenge of the ascent with the pleasure of skiing back down. Using specially adapted skis and climbing skins, you make your way uphill at your own pace before removing the skins and enjoying the descent.

It’s a different way to experience the mountains in winter: peaceful and contemplative on the way up, with all the enjoyment of skiing on the way back down.

The landscapes of the Haute Tarentaise make La Rosière a fantastic setting in which to discover ski touring and explore the mountains from a different perspective.

Every week, an introductory ski touring session is offered in rotation by ESF, Evolution 2, Oxygène and Originalps. Dates vary from week to week, so check the events programme to find the next session and book directly with the school running it.

When venturing into unsecured mountain terrain, understanding the mountain environment, snow and weather conditions, and how to use appropriate safety equipment is essential.
