Two natural treasures within easy reach

Craving fresh mountain air, breathtaking views and encounters with wildlife (ibex rather than crowds)? From La Rosière, discover two exceptional national parks where pristine landscapes and rich biodiversity await you, whether for a gentle walk or a more challenging hike.

From La Rosière, set out to explore two natural gems: the Vanoise National Park (France) and Gran Paradiso National Park (Italy). Together, they form one of the largest protected areas in Europe – 270,000 hectares of pristine nature. A French-Italian alliance full of character… and elevation!

Originally created to protect the Alpine ibex, these parks are now home to countless natural treasures: glaciers, larch forests, flower-filled meadows, high-altitude lakes, towering peaks… and abundant wildlife. Don’t forget your binoculars!

Vanoise National Park – The French pioneer

Established in 1963, it is the very first national park in France. With 600 km of trails and 107 peaks above 3,000 metres, the Vanoise is a true paradise for hikers. The access is often easy, yet the scenery always breathtaking: glittering glaciers, hanging lakes, curious marmots, delicate edelweiss… The Alpine dream in all its splendour.

Gran Paradiso National Park – Italy’s wild soul

Across the border lies a world just as captivating. Stretching between Piedmont and the Aosta Valley, Gran Paradiso rises from 800 to 4,061 metres in altitude. Spruce forests, glaciers, waterfalls, ibex and chamois create a living tableau that changes with the seasons. With 857 km of trails, it’s an open invitation to disconnect… and marvel.

Nearby access from La Rosière (depending on the season):
🇮🇹 Degioz, Cogne, or Valgrisenche
🇫🇷 Val d’Isère, Pont-Saint-Charles car park → trail to the Prariond refuge
