10 Rules for Skiing (or Riding) Safely
Before putting on your skis or snowboard, take a moment to review the golden rules for the slopes. Respect, caution and responsibility are the keys to a safe and enjoyable holiday in the mountains.
- I control my speed at all times.
- I give way to those below me on the slope.
- I stop only at the side of the piste, in a visible place.
- I wear a helmet.
- I overtake while keeping a safe distance.
- I start or cross a piste without obstructing others.
- I climb on foot or skis only at the edge of the piste.
- I check the weather and slope conditions.
- I alert rescue services in case of an accident and cooperate.
- I leave my details if I am involved in or witness an accident.
On the Italian side
- Carry ID at all times.
- Civil liability insurance required.
- Helmet compulsory for under 18s.
- Off-piste only with transceiver, shovel, probe.
- Snowscoots are banned.
- Please note, wearing a helmet is MANDATORY on Italian tracks.

⚠️ Rescue is not free: make sure your ski insurance or Carré Neige covers you.
Other rules
- Dogs in La Rosière: Dogs are prohibited “on the ski area” except for avalanche rescue dogs. They are not allowed to roam freely without an owner. Dogs must be kept on a leash on the snow fronts, the pedestrian path through the forest, the resort center, the Eucherts sector, and on public roads.
- Banned equipment: paret, yooner (except in lessons), sledges, snooc, sled dog, snowskate.
- Ski area closed after 17:00 for grooming and night safety.
- The lift queues at La Rosière (France) are non-smoking.
