Our daily eco-friendly actions
Concrete initiatives carried out all year round in La Rosière to make a mountain holiday rhyme with respect for the environment.
Concrete actions for a preserved mountain
La Rosière acts every day to reduce its environmental impact, encourage soft mobility and promote local resources.
Saving energy
In a context of resource constraints, the resort has implemented energy-saving measures adapted to the specific characteristics of the altitude. For example, from winter 2025-26, the La Rosière ski area will switch its entire fleet of snow groomers to HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil). This fuel, produced from renewable raw materials, will completely replace the non-road diesel previously used. This transition will significantly reduce the carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions associated with snow grooming. More info here.
Encouraging low-carbon travel
Holidaymakers arriving by train to Bourg-Saint-Maurice benefit from a 15% discount on their ESPACE SAN BERNARDO ski pass (2 days or more). A reward for those who choose the most sustainable option.
Partnership with EcoSki
Thanks to the UK-based platform EcoSki, rail travellers also enjoy a 15% discount on the rental or purchase of second-hand technical ski equipment. An initiative born in La Rosière, promoting the circular economy and waste reduction.
Snow that produces energy
On the La Thuile side (Italy), the artificial snow network of the Espace San Bernardo has been converted into a hydroelectric system producing more than 4.8 GWh in 3 years. A major technical innovation for cleaner skiing.
Natural habitats and pastoralism
The ski area actively protects sensitive species (such as the black grouse) and rare plants (like the Alpine clubmoss). In summer, the land is shared between alpine pastures, wildlife and agriculture, creating real complementarity between uses.
