Indoor climbing

Jean Arpin Hall – La Rosière

Type: Indoor climbing gym (artificial wall)

Levels: Beginner to advanced

Equipment: 10-metre-high wall with a variety of routes (from 3 to 7c+)

  • Secure climbing area.
  • Equipment hire (harnesses, shoes, chalk) available.
  • Supervision by qualified instructors (booking required).

Why climb here? Ideal for beginners, training or improving your skills in complete safety, whatever the weather. The centre is open to all and offers classes for children and adults.

Outdoor climbing

Châtelard site (20 minutes from La Rosière)

Type: Natural cliff (limestone)

Levels: Beginner to expert (routes from 4 to 8a+)

Features: Numerous routes equipped for lead climbing and top roping.

  • Sunny wall, ideal for climbing in summer and spring.
  • Easy access (car park 5 minutes’ walk from the cliff).
  • Guidebooks available from La Rosière Tourist Office or online.
  • Bring a helmet (risk of falling rocks).
  • Respect nesting periods (temporary bans in spring).

Our Tips for Climbing Safely

  • Equipment: Always check your harness, rope, carabiners and helmet.
  • Weather: Conditions in the mountains can change quickly. Check the weather forecast before setting off.
  • Supervision: Beginners are advised to take lessons with an instructor (available from the Tourist Office or through local sports clubs and shops).
